Synopsis: Slightly older show (2014) but right up there in terms of quality and storyline. A contemporary series which follows the story of an American family that gets caught up in the turbulent world of middle eastern politics and savagery. Barry (Bassam Al Fayeed) is a pediatrician living in the US with his family (wife and two teenage kids). He is of middle eastern descent but fleed that life for a more peaceful, normal lifestyle in the US and harbors no desire to ever return to his homeland (fictitious country of Abuddin). Reluctantly, he returns to his native land to attend his nephews’ wedding and in doing so – gets sucked into the life he was distancing himself from. His father (current ruler of Abuddin) is about to take his last breath and wants Bassam to help reshape Abuddiin as the country is witnessing an uprising against the ruling family. Jamal, his ruthless brother, needs to be controlled from his wild ways and whose idea of running a country is full on dictatorship and barbarism against his opponents. A pulsating series covering the journey of Bassam back to his roots, the same roots he vowed to reject.
