A solid French entry into the Netflix cauldron. Lupin is a mystery thriller that takes place in Paris about Assane Diop (played by Omar Sy), son of a Senegalese immigrant who is a devout follower of the beloved French character Arsène Lupin – “a fictional gentleman thief and master of disguise created in 1905 by French writer Maurice Leblanc”.
An entertaining, but sometimes implausible drama about how Assane works his magical ways to deceive the authorities in order to pilfer national treasures like Marie Antoinette’s necklace from the Louvre. However, each heist has a purpose and reasoning behind it which we find out as the story unfolds.
A mix between Da Vinci Code, Money Heist and Oceans 11, worth a watch.
