Daniel Craig’s farewell to the Bond Franchise ends with a bang. A big bang. A very Bond-esque. A fitting coda for one of the best Bond’s to suit up. No time to die features the usual Razzmatazz of any Bond movie – the glitz, the glamor, exotic locations, cars that shoot missiles, romance…all shaken, not stirred. It also boasts an intriguing story line. The
Plot is very involved and needs the viewer to pay attention at various junctures in the film in order to keep up with the story. Craig is his usual Bond self, rough and tough, quippy one liners but at the same time, shows his sentimental side.
Ramy Malik provides for a worthy foe and a new 007 working side by side with the “retired” Bond provides some interesting dynamics.
Bond is enjoying retired life with Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux) in Italy when he visits the burial place of one of his former love interest. A bomb goes off that almost kills Bond and he frantically returns back to the hotel, suspecting Madeleine of divulging the location of his whereabouts. It’s a non stop thrill ride after that where the retired Bond is roped back in by the CIA to help get back a weapon of mass destruction (a virus that is programmed to kill people based on their DNA) that is now in the hands of the evil Spectre, a former Bond adversary.
A refreshing cameo by Ana De Armas (from Knives Out) and solid acting by new Bond girl, Lea Seydoux. The only cons of the movie would be the length (almost 3 hrs, could have been 30 minutes shorter) and an unnecessary gluttony of guns and bullets.
After watching the movie I can say I was shaken, not stirred…..
