ISHQ ZAHE NASEEB

Grade: 4.5/5

Genre: Pakistani Drama

Episodes: 30 (HUM TV, YouTube)

Ages: 16+

Simply brilliant. An outstanding drama with a bold and daring story line. It is a little off the beaten path and not your atypical drama which is why it might not be everyone’s cup of tea as it deals with split personality disorder and other taboo topics however it is done in such a manner that even though the premise is dark, it never feels overly dark – as the director does a fantastic job injecting several light and real moments to make it fun viewing. It is compelling and riveting but what takes this drama to the next level is the acting by Zahid Ahmed – a masterpiece! He deserves all the accolades and best actor awards that come his way. A vintage performance unlike I have seen in any tv drama or movie in the sub continent in a very long time. He is Pakistan’s version of the “Joker”.  He was that good! A risky role, outside the box – his portrayal of Sameer and his alter ego, Sameera, was spellbinding. Scary, yet fascinating. Not many actors would accede to portray such a role.

The last few episodes seemed a bit rushed as I believe the ending was changed last minute but this drama needs to be viewed as a whole – ground breaking. The supporting cast members rendered sterling performances as well and the soundtrack of the drama is equally haunting. There are other dramas out there that have gained more popularity like Mere Paas Tum Ho and Alif (both good dramas) but Ishq Zahe Naseeb is a pioneer. Highly recommend if you want to watch something unique or just for the sensational acting of Zahid Ahmed – a performance and drama that should be remembered for years to come!
