An impressive suspense thriller directed by Anees Chaganty (“Searching”), starring the talented Sarah Paulson playing mother Diana Sherman and a compelling performance by Kiera Allen, as daughter Chloe. Add this flick to your bucket list of horror movies without the gore of an actual horror movie…in the genre of Get Out, When a Stranger Calls, etc. It has already become Hulu’s most streamed movie of all time!
Chloe Sherman is bed ridden having been born with a litany of ailments including paralysis of the legs, irregular heartbeat, asthma, diabetes and skin rashes. She has been in the care of her devoted mother Diana, home schooling her since birth and now Chloe is awaiting acceptance at colleges, specifically University of Washington in Seattle. I won’t divulge too much of the plot, just to say what follows is an intense psychological warfare between the two main characters and plenty of “what the hell are you doing, get out of there” moments from the audience which definitely makes this a must watch! It is PG13 so it’s fine to watch with the younglings, noting that there are a few squirming moments but those go by quickly.
